At Gym 1801’s Youth Sports Academy (YSA), we focus on helping young athletes develop strength, agility, and confidence. Whether your athlete is new to training or looking to improve their performance, here are some common questions to help you get started.
Do I Need an Appointment for My Athlete’s First Visit?
Yes, we ask that you contact us before attending your first session. This allows us to understand your athlete’s goals, any injury history, and their specific training needs.
If your athlete has previously attended YSA, we already have this information on file. They will also have an account created and a waiver signed.
If you’re interested in signing up for a 6-week program or trying a class as a drop-in, you can fill out our reservation form or reach out to our Director, Brian Baker, at brian@1801.life.
Is There a Commitment Requirement?
We encourage a 6-week commitment to ensure consistency and progress over time. However, we do offer drop-in sessions for athletes who want to try a class before committing or for those with schedule conflicts that prevent them from training twice per week.
Does My Athlete Need an Assessment Before Starting?
An assessment is not required for drop-in sessions, but we recommend a Functional Movement Screen at the start of any 6-week program. This provides a baseline of your athlete’s movement quality and helps us determine which movements should be included or avoided in their training plan.
Can Boys and Girls Train Together?
Yes. We organize training groups based on age, sport, and ability level to maintain specificity and maximize results. Boys and girls can train together as long as they share similar training goals and skill levels.
Does My Athlete Need to Be Part of a Team?
Training in a familiar group often leads to the best results, and scheduling is easiest when athletes train with their own team. However, if your athlete isn’t part of a team, they can still participate. Start by reserving a spot, and we’ll work on finding a suitable training group.
What Happens After the First 6 Weeks?
After completing the initial 6-week program, you have two options:
- YSA Drop-in at $35 per class – This option offers flexibility but does not guarantee a consistent spot in class. Availability is first-come, first-served, which may limit training consistency.
- YSA Membership at $30 per class – 2 classes per week with a 4 week commitment (billed at $120 every 2 weeks). This option secures your spot in future sessions and provides a structured program designed for measurable progress. By committing to a consistent schedule, your athlete will see better results while also saving on each session.
- You can pause your membership at any time and attend a drop-in class at $35 if your schedule does not consistently allow for 2 classes per week.
If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out to our Director, Brian Baker, at brian@1801.life.
